Statement of Faith
Mid-Ohio Christian Co-op
Articles of Faith Leadership Commitment
As a distinctly Christian homeschool organization, we are committed to upholding the
foundational truths of the Christian faith as revealed in the Bible, God’s inspired and
authoritative Word. While our members may come from a variety of denominational
backgrounds, our organization is founded upon the core doctrines of the gospel and the
life-transforming power of Jesus Christ. This Articles of Faith expresses the biblical convictions
that shape our organization, leadership, teaching, guide our community, and anchor our
commitment to raising children who know and follow the Lord.
1. The Bible
The basis of our belief is the Bible, God's perfect written Word, and the 66 books of the Old and
New Testaments. We believe that the Holy Spirit uniquely and fully inspired it and that it was
written without error. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.
1 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12; Revelation 22:19; Proverbs 30:5; Psalm 119:105, 160; 2 Peter 1:20-21
2. The Trinity
There is one true and living God, eternally existing -- God the Father, God’s Son- Jesus Christ,
and God’s Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Psalm 90:2; Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22
3. Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the
Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Jesus lived a sinless life and voluntarily paid for the sins of men
by dying on the cross as their substitute. He rose from the dead. He ascended bodily into
heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He continually makes
intercession for believers. Jesus was present with God from creation, he was born completely
human, was raised to complete glory, and is complete Deity, united in one person, forever.
John 1:1-5, 9-14; Luke 1:30-35; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
4. Humanity and Sin
Man was originally created in the image of God. He sinned by disobeying God. Through
Adam's sin, sin entered the world. Sin separates people from God, leaving them incapable of
fulfilling their purpose and powerless to change their condition or restore themselves to God.
Genesis 1:26-31; Genesis 3:1-23; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 64:6-7; Romans 3:9-20; Romans 6:23
5. Salvation
The salvation of man is completely a work of God's free grace and is not the work, in whole or
in part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony. God places His righteousness on
those who put their faith in Jesus Christ, surrendering to Him as Lord of their life for their
salvation. Those who place their faith in God become the adopted sons and daughters of God
and choose to demonstrate their love and faith through obedience to God’s word, in cooperation
with and enabled by, God’s Holy Spirit. Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 6:23;
John 14:16; John 1:12; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:2
16. The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, also sometimes called the Spirit of God, has come into the world to reveal and
glorify God and His will and to apply the saving work of Christ to men. The Spirit convicts and
draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, continually indwells them from the moment of
spiritual birth, seals them until the day of redemption, and imparts various spiritual gifts. The
Spirit’s fullness, power, and control are received by faith. Every believer is called to live in the
power of the indwelling Spirit that they will not fulfill the lust of the flesh but will bear fruit to the
glory of God. 1 Corinthians 12:13; Romans 1:19-20; Romans 8:9-17; John 16: 7-13; Ephesians 5:18;
Galatians 5:25; John 14:16-17
7. Christ’s Return and Eternity
Jesus Christ will come again to the earth -- personally, visibly, and bodily. There will be a
resurrection of the saved to eternal life. Those who reject Christ will experience the second
death, punishment, and destruction. Because God makes the promise of eternal life with
believers through Jesus Christ, those who are believers are secure in that salvation for eternity.
John 3:16; 1 John 5:11-13; John 10:29; Romans 6:23
8. Gender
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These
two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of
one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. Genesis 1:26-27
9. Marriage
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one
woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. We believe that God intends
sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We
believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a
marriage between a man and a woman. Genesis 2:18-25; 1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4
10. Sexuality
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual
behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to
God. Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10
11. The Sanctity of Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of
inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or
mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death.
We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. Psalm 139:13-16
12. Biblical Authority
These articles of faith do not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired
and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the
proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
2For purposes of Mid Ohio Christian Co-op’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our
Governing Board is Mid Ohio Christian Co-op’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s
meaning and application.
Members who proselytize beliefs that are in direct conflict with, or in addition to, these Articles
of Faith may be removed from the membership by a majority vote of the Governing Board.
Leadership Commitment Statement
As a community of believers, we are united in our shared faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and
Redeemer, and in our commitment to the authority and truth of God’s Word. While we recognize
and respect the richness and diversity of Christian traditions represented among us, we stand
firmly on the foundational teachings of Scripture.
As leaders, teachers, and board members, we commit to teaching, guiding, and serving within
this biblical framework. In every role we fulfill, we strive to act with humility, love, and unity,
seeking to honor God and encourage one another toward faithful living. By God’s grace, we will
endeavor to reflect the light of Christ in our instruction, relationships, and leadership throughout
the life of our community.
